Since the hurricane we have spoken to many people that evacuated. Those lucky or unlucky souls who did not see what their possessions were flooded with. The water receded fairly quickly so most people are unaware of the condition of the water as it made its way through the sewers and chemical plants that lie between us and the gulf. We remained through the storm and witnessed the stew of salt water, oil, gasoline, sewage and whatever else that invaded our homes. Here is a photo of a plastic bin that was in a closet of our home that remained filled with flood water for a few days until we got around to cleaning that section of our house. After pouring the water out, as you can see, remained a thick black residue. We made the choice soon after the water receded to dispose of anything that may have even came close to that water. My heart goes out to those who did not witness the condition of the flood water and are trying to salvage their chemically soaked possessions.
