Southeast Texas Forecast Discussion

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY SOUTHEAST TEXAS!!!

Deep tropical moisture just offshore from Southeast Texas today so about half the area seeing rainfall.  We continue to forecast most shower and thunderstorm activity to be over by 9AM.  Forecast models keep deep moisture along the coast through the weekend, so little change is expected through Sunday.

Tropical Storm Bertha in the Far Eastern Atlantic has formed and continues to show signs of strengthening.  Bertha is one of the earliest Cape Verde storms ever observed.  Model data takes the storm over the next five days on a west-northwest track and then curves it into the open Central Atlantic as southwesterly shear over the Caribbean takes hold.  CLICK HERE for the latest from the National Hurricane Center.
