COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Lloyd Chisum threw the go-ahead
touchdown pass and scored on a lateral after a teammate's
interception to lead Crane past Navasota 38-27 for the Division II
7-on-7 state football championship.
Chisum's touchdown pass today to Jordan Cavazos put Crane ahead 32-27 before Navasota marched the other way and was in position to retake the lead in the game in College Station.
Cody Black's interception at the Crane goal line denied
Navasota, and Chisum provided the clinching score by going the
length of the field after two laterals.
Crane had a touchdown on a similar play at the end of the first
half when Chisum intercepted a pass and lateraled to Jordan
Mendoza, who scored.
Chisum, the tournament MVP, had two interceptions.
Chisum started the second half with a touchdown pass to Justin
Carrasco that put Crane ahead 26-13, but Navasota took a 27-26 lead
on pair of scoring tosses from Jacolby Stokes to Brandall Jackson.
