Tackle accused of having .15 blood-alcohol content

Ashly Elam

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma offensive lineman Phil Loadholt
faces a July 8th court hearing on charges of driving under the
influence of alcohol and transporting an open container.
The 6-foot-8, 350-pound starting left tackle was pulled over at
2:35 a.m. Saturday after a state trooper saw his car cross the
center line and run onto the shoulder on Interstate 35 in Norman.
The trooper reported in his affidavit that the 22-year-old
Loadholt had a blood-alcohol content of point-15 percent on two
separate tests. That's nearly twice the legal limit of point-0-8
percent.
The trooper also said in an affidavit that open containers of
Busch Light beer and malt liquor were on the center console of
Loadholt's car.
An attorney pleaded not guilty for Loadholt during a court
appearance yesterday.
Loadholt started all 14 of the Sooners' games last season after
transferring from Garden City Community College in Kansas.
