Bridge City Sweeps District Cross-Country

The Bridge City Boys Cross-Country team made it nine district titles in the last 10 years, running away with the 21-3a meet at Claiborne Park in Vidor Wednesday.

The Cardinals placed seven runners in the top eight to finish with just 17 points, while second place Hamshire Fannett scored 53 and WO Stark finished 3rd with 92 points.

Tim Cude of Bridge City won the individual title for the second straight year in a time of 17:18.37 over the 5,000 meter course.

Kirby Shepherd of BC was second and Aaron Lejuene of the Cardinals was third followed by Enrico Dainese of Ham-Fannett.

The Bridge City Girls cross country team recorded their 10th straight district title with 25 points, as three of the Cardinals runners, Mary Nguyen, Meagan Shockley and Jessica Franklin finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Orangefield was second in the team standings with 40 points led by Kaila Williams, who won the individual race in a time of 12:44.40 over a two mile course.

The regional 3a meet will be held next weekend.
