HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Astros catcher Humberto Quintero suffered a concussion in Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers when
his helmet was struck by a bat.
Quintero was struck by Luis Maza's bat as he finished a swing on
a fly out in the second inning. Quintero was taken to a hospital
where tests were negative.
The Astros say Quintero will remain hospitalized overnight and
be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Houston will recall catcher
J.R. Towles from Triple-A Round Rock to fill Quintero's roster
spot.
The 28-year-old Quintero is hitting .244 this season.
