Plane Crash Kills 2 In Northern Texas

David Ingram

BONHAM, Texas (AP) - Authorities say two north Texas residents died when the experimental airplane they were in crashed shortly after takeoff.

Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Mark Tackett says pilot William Pearson and Linda Wingo of Leonard were killed Saturday morning.

The Herald Democrat of Sherman-Denison reported that the homemade aircraft burst into flames on impact. The newspaper reported that the initial investigation indicated the plane lost power and the engine had to be restarted once the plane was in the air.

The crash happened just north of Bonham, which is about 70 miles north of Dallas.
