Fire Kills One in Harris County Home

Bryan Rupp

HOUSTON (AP) - One person is dead after an early morning fire swept through a north Harris County home.

Harris County sheriff's officials say when they arrived after getting the call around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, a young man was outside the burning home. He went back in to rescue another person, but firefighters said that person's body was found in a bedroom.

The man who went back in was rescued by firefighters and taken to a hospital for his injuries.

Authorities haven't released the name of the person who died. Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
