Investigators Try to Determine Why a Texas Woman Burned to Death on Balcony

David Ingram

Investigators in Dallas are trying to determine what caused a fire that resulted in a woman burning in her bathrobe on the balcony of her apartment.

The fire broke out about 9p.m. Tuesday.

Dallas fire-rescue had to kick in the door of the apartment to reach the victim.

Witnesses say the woman was on fire standing on her balcony while wearing her burning bath robe.

The victim is identified as 58-year-old Linda Gadd.

An initial investigation did not reveal any accelerants, like an oxygen tank that could have exploded.

Gadd's injuries were very severe and she was pronounced dead at the location.

A neighbor used a fire extinguisher to help put out the flames.
