Jury Seated in Galveston 'Baby Grace' Trial

David Ingram

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - A jury has been seated in the Galveston trial of a man accused in the 2007 death of his stepdaughter dubbed "Baby Grace" by emergency responders.

Opening statements were expected Wednesday in the capital murder trial of 26-year-old Royce Clyde Zeigler II of Spring. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.

His wife, 21-year-old Kimberly Dawn Trenor, in February was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison. Trenor acknowledged that Riley Ann Sawyers died after a violent daylong disciplinary session.

The unidentified body of the 2-year-old girl was discovered in a plastic box on an island in Galveston Bay. She was called Baby Grace until media accounts of the child helped relatives in Ohio recognize and identify her.
