AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Bill White's U.S. Senate campaign reports that the Houston mayor raised more than $1.8 million since April 2009 for the run. Nearly half of that was donated by White himself.

The White campaign reported Wednesday, July 15, 2009 that the Houston Democrat raised $1 million from contributors. He also donated $821,000 in personal funds during the second quarter of the year.

White is running for the seat currently held by Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is expected to launch a campaign for Texas governor.

Elsewhere, the U.S. Senate campaign of Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams reports that it has raised $225,513 since April for the Republican's bid. The full fundraising reports are due later Wednesday.
