TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) - A Southeast Texas man is accused of wrapping a 20-foot chain around his teenage son's neck and spraying him in the face with Mace.

Texas City police arrested 48-year-old Ira Danner on Saturday, July 4, 2009 and charged him with assault to a family member. Danner was out the Galveston County Jail on Sunday.

Police said Danner told them he was frustrated because his son was misbehaving and being physically dominant over him. Online records did not show an attorney for Danner.

Police Capt. Brian Goetschius said Danner's 15-year-old son ran to a neighbor's house Saturday morning with a towing chain around his neck that had a combination lock. The teenager told police that his father also sprayed him in the face with Mace twice.

Child Protective Services was called to investigate.

I wonder how big was the boy. If he was physically dominant over the dad, surely he could have stopped him. What happened to a good old spanking.
