Suspected Illegal Immigrant Shot

News KBMT

McALLEN, Texas (AP) - A suspected illegal immigrant is in stable condition after he was shot during an altercation with a Border Patrol agent in a Kingsville convenience store.
Border Patrol spokesman John Lopez says the agent was unharmed in this morning's struggle at the Kwik Pantry. Lopez says the agent chased the suspect into the store early this morning after he and other immigrants fled from a vehicle the Border Patrol was chasing.
Inside the store, the immigrant fought the agent's attempts to detain him and was shot.
The suspect was airlifted to Christus Spohn Corpus Christi-Memorial hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Lopez says the agent has more than five years experience with the agency.
Neither the identity of the suspect nor the agent have been released.

An officer never knows if a suspect is armed or not until they pat them down. Why wouldn't an officer have a gun pulled on a known criminal/illegal alien? As far as the other story you referenced about the man with a knife, do you not think that a knife is a deadly weapon? You don't fight the Police!!!

What would the reason be for law enforcement agents to pull weapons on unarmed suspects? The valley has been hearing about another undocumented man who was shot to death. He had a knife, was shot to death by a tough police officer. Now the officers' stories don't add up, but the man is dead. Excessive use of force? Perhaps too much authority?
