Couple slain, teenage son wounded in Pasadena home invasion

Brian Burns

PASADENA, Texas (AP) - Police are looking for a male suspect after an overnight home invasion that left a Pasadena couple dead and their teenage son wounded.

Police identify the dead couple as Leo Garza Sr. and Milagro Vanegas, both of whom were 53. Their bodies were found in the master bedroom of their home.

Police spokesmen say 16-year-old Leo Gomez Jr. apparently walked into the house during the attack just after 7 p.m. Tuesday when he was shot. All had been shot in the head.

The boy was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they saw an armed man leave in the Garzas' pickup truck. It was found abandoned shortly thereafter 30 blocks away.
