Boy killed when shotgun falls over, fires near Marshall

Brian Burns

MARSHALL, Texas (AP) - A 12-year-old boy died of wounds suffered
when a shotgun fell over and discharged while he was at a friend's house west of Marshall.

The Harris County sheriff's office on Friday did not immediately released the name of the victim. A call was not immediately returned to The Associated Press.

Administrative Chief Deputy Mike Alexander has said the shooting was reported Thursday afternoon at a residence on FM 449.

Authorities believe the shotgun was standing in a corner when it somehow fell and went off.

Alexander described the death as an accident.
