Foster dad of alleged East Texas sex club victims arrested

TYLER, Texas (AP) - A foster parent in East Texas with custody of three children allegedly forced into sex at swinger parties is accused of abusing a child in California in the 1990s.

Sixty-four-year-old John Orville Cantrell has been charged with sexual penetration of a person under 14 and lewd act upon a child.

The complaint against Cantrell was filed May 9th and stems from an alleged assault that occurred in 1991 in Solano County, California.

Cantrell was taken into custody Wednesday by Wood County authorities. He faces a July 7th court hearing in California.

Cantrell's wife, Margie, told the Tyler Morning-Telegraph the accusations are in retaliation for their roles in helping build the case against Mineola Swinger's Club.

Seven people have been charged for allegedly training children how to perform sex acts for an audience. Two defendants have both been convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

The third trial in the swingers case is scheduled for next week.
