Woman Accused Of Abusing Her Stillborn Baby's Corpse

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A Fort Worth woman has been charged with a misdemeanor after allegedly trying to flush her stillborn baby's body down a hospital restroom toilet.

Investigators say 27-year-old Ericka Benitez ended up placing the body in a restroom trash can in a Fort Worth hospital emergency room.

She was arrested yesterday on a charge of corpse abuse, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

She remains jailed today with bond set at $7,500.
