Appeal Rejected Over 2004 Slaying Of Retired TCU Prof

Brian Burns

AUSTIN (AP) - The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals today rejected the appeal of a man convicted of killing a retired Texas Christian University professor.

Edward Lee Busby Junior was sent to death row for the January 2004 robbery and slaying of 77-year-old Laura Lee Crane whose body was found in southern Oklahoma.

The victim was abducted from a Fort Worth grocery store parking lot.

Investigators say she was suffocated from having duct tape wrapped over her face.

Busby was caught in Oklahoma City when he was pulled over for traffic violations while driving the victim's car.

Busby later led officers to Crane's body in some woods off Interstate 35 near Davis, Oklahoma.
