Storms Damage Salado Just Days After Bush Event

Brian Burns

SALADO, Texas (AP) - Storms damaged parts of Salado just days after the town drew attention leading to the wedding of first daughter Jenna Bush.

Some trees were toppled Wednesday morning, while Salado High School suffered damage, losing some bricks.

Principal Kay Matthews says that interior damage led to cancellation of school for the rest of the day.

The historic Robertson Home suffered roof damage.

The rehearsal dinner for Jenna Bush and Henry Hager was held May
9 in Salado, about 50 miles from President Bush's ranch near Crawford.

The couple wed the following day at a private outdoor ceremony at the ranch.

Wednesday's storm damaged the Range Restaurant, which catered the rehearsal dinner.
