Texas School for the Deaf worker arrested on sex charge

News KBMT

AUSTIN (AP) - A dorm supervisor at the Texas School for the Deaf has been charged with having an improper relationship with a male student.

Austin police say the man told them he fondled a 15-year-old boy.

Thirty-two-year-old Shane Flournoy told police that he confessed to his minister that he'd sexually abused the student. The preacher contacted police.

Flournoy and the student had participated in church and deaf community activities in Houston. Flournoy moved to Austin and began working at the school last May.

Police say Flournoy recognized the student at school and they went on shopping trips. Flournoy allegedly allowed the teen to watch pornography on his computer.

Flournoy was fired after his arrest Friday. School officials say a criminal background check did not show any convictions or arrests.

It wasn't immediately clear if Flournoy has an attorney.
