(ABC News) Police in Orlando, Fla., are searching for a man who shot at least seven people in a downtown office building. According to initial reports, two people were killed and five others were transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
Jason Rodriguez, 40, possibly a former worker at the building, was being sought by police in connection with the shootings. The suspect may have fled in a silver Nissan SUV, Fla. tag D11 9UX.
"We've got everybody in one office, with the door barricaded with a chest of drawers," one woman tells the Sentinal newspaper. "There are about 20 of us in here. We're scared." A witness told ABC affiliate WFTV that a former employee walked into the building and opened fire.
The shooting comes one day after a massacre at Fort Hood where 12 soldiers and one civilian were gunned down at a military processing center.
Police told WFTV that SWAT teams are going floor to floor looking for the shooter, a man in a light blue Polo shirt and jeans. Police have said they believe there is only one shooter.
The shooter may still be in the 16-story Legion Place Gateway Center, a high-rise office complex next to the Sheraton Hotel. The twin-tower structure includes several law offices, a restaurant and a TV sports network headquarters.
About 20 people were led out of the building, distraught and crying, according to ABC reports. Others are still barricaded in the office building.
Five victims were transported to the local hospital and described as "trauma red" patients, according to Orlando police and fire departments.
Edgewater High School is on lock down and I-4 at SR-50 are also closed.
One witness said he saw someone screaming at him to get out of the building immediately.
There were approximately 50 paramedics responding to the incident.
Police said the call about a mass shooting came at 11:30 a.m.
Officers with assault rifles are looking for a suspect with blue shirt and blue jeans. Many have their weapons pointed at the parking garage.
Orlando police and Orange County sheriffs have blocked roads near the Orlando Chamber of Commerce and the Radisson hotel. All of the businesses between Marks Road south to Colonial Drive are evacuated.
