Deweyville Schools to CLOSE

David Ingram

With water levels continuously rising in the Sabine River the Deweyville Independent School District is taking precautions.

According to Superintendent Rick Summers all Deweyville Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Summers told 12 News they know what certain water levels will do and they want to ensure the safety and health of students and their families allowing them to take the necessary early precautions.

Summers, also told us the river is expected to be at 27 feet around 6am Thursday morning. The flood stage is 24 feet.

Previous story version from 11a.m Wednesday, November 4, 2009:

The Deweyville Independent School District has announced the schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

It was not clear if this closer was a result of the flood waters or another matter.

At this time no determination has been made for classes next week.

12 News is monitoring this situation and will have more information once it becomes available.

Well lets see, they have a flood warning going across the top of the screen. But are the schools closing because of the flooding, or not? Huh, thats not hard to figure out
