Mobile Food Vendors to Operate on Yearly Permit

Bryan Rupp

The Beaumont City Council has passed an item that allows some mobile food vendors to operate with a yearly permit.

Before the city council only allowed vendors to get permits that are good for the day they are operating.

The purpose for the creation of the food sale permit was to reduce the risk of food borne illness in mobile food units.

The definition change will allow vendors to sell items such as popcorn, snow cones, and prepackaged food items, which are considered low-risk, to operate by getting a yearly permit.
