Hunt Continues For Beaumont Bank Robber

Bryan Rupp

The hunt continues tonight for a robber who boldly walked into a Beaumont bank and held it up at gunpoint this morning.

12 News Reporter Shane Doyle tells us witnesses say the robbery took less than a minute but felt like an eternity.

"He just had a very intimidating gun. He was waiving it around threatening to shoot everybody" said one eyewitness.

Witnesses described the robbery as heart stopping.

It happened just before 10a.m. at the Wells Fargo at I-10 and Calder.

A man walked into the bank pulled out a gun from his sock then yelled at the tellers to give him the money.

Donald Gibb was in the bank at the time standing just a few feet from the suspect.

"That's the first time I've ever been through anything like that. I was pretty keyed out right then. Just be still. I tried to glance at him from the side of my eye to get a look at him. But I didn't want to stare at him and get him aggravated anymore than he was" said Gibb.

The bank tellers loaded more than $5,000 into the bag.

The suspect then took the money and ran out the front door.

Witnesses saw him run towards an apartment complex behind the bank.

Police searched the area but found no sign of the robber.

Investigators say he was very specific with his instructions to the tellers, which could mean he's done this before.

"That's a pretty good indication that it's either extremely well thought out or this maybe is not his first time, at robbing a bank or a business in itself"

Surveillance cameras captured the suspect on tape.

Police are now running fingerprints found at the scene to see if they're a match.

The man is described as Hispanic in his 30s with short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue button up shirt and jeans.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department.
