Possible Shake-up In Hardin County Politics

News KBMT

There could be a major shake up in Hardin County politics in just a couple of day. Traditionally, Hardin County voters have chosen Democratic candidates, but republicans are working into the mix.

Lumberton resident and Republican David Bellow announced Monday that he would be running for Hardin County Commissioner.

His announcement comes in advance of a Wednesday press conference in which Hardin County leaders are expected to announce a switch of political party.

On Wednesday Sheriff Ed Cain and County Judge Billy Caraway will take part in a news conference.

"It doesn't really matter that much if a person is a Democrat or Republican," said Dr. Bruce Drury, Ph.D who is a retired Lamar professor.

"Ideology is driven more at the state or national level," added Drury. "But you don't see it as much in the Texas rural counties."

A clear example was in the 2008 presidential election when more than 16,000 Hardin County voters backed John McCain. Barack Obama got a little less than 4,000 votes.

"That has to tell a local officer holder that if people are going to be voting by party, than it would be smarter to be a republican," said Drury.

David Bellow has a clear record of standing for the people. He stood against tax increases. He stood for letting the people of Lumberton decide important issues. He stood for conservative values and for the republican party while all the other democrats in hardin county were still holding on to the liberal democrat party. David Bellow is a very good person and all you can do is call names because you are probably upset because you wanted the increased taxes or you didnt want lumberton voting

Regardless of what Bellows spews, he's only out for himself in the long run. His main goal isn't to improve Lumberton, but to try and make everyone do what he thinks they should do. He's a snake and should be ignored by everyone especially the media.

To Sharon Bohler: Please read the last sentence of Dr. Drury's comment, "That has to tell a local office holder that if people are going to be voting by party, then it would be smarter to be a Republican". Democrats have been running our Government since 2006. Since then, our economy and our country has gone down-hill. Citizens in our community have spoken and they want to get in the correct line to vote. That means our local Officials have to be on the right ticket!

If our Hardin County people do a swith from democratic to republican I will not vote for them again and will campain against them. According to Dr.Bruce Drury "it doesn't really matter if a person is democratic or republican" if this is so why do they want to make the change. They have done quite well being democrats all these year, I just don't understand.
