Port Arthur Doctor Thankful But Waiting For Cause of Fire

Bryan Rupp, 12 News

A week after his Port Neches home burnt to the ground, Doctor Pradip Morbia and his family are moving on with life.

An investigation into the cause should be done in about a week.

Fire fighters speculate it started from an electrical problem but the exact source may never be known.

The home was a total loss but its some of the contents that were saved that the family is thankful for.

"Pictures of my children when they were so little. My wife went crazy when she saw that. She couldn't thank Michelle Sterling enough. You're a god-send. You made my life. I thought I'd lost everything" said Dr. Morbia.

Morbia says they plan to rebuild the home as it was before the fire.

He and his wife are staying with relatives until they can find an apartment.

The new home won't be ready for about a year and a half.
