Child’s Death Under Investigation

David Ingram

Tyler County Sheriff’s Deputies and Child Protective Service are investigating the death of a 6-month old child.

Shari Pulliam with CPS has confirmed the agency is investigating the baby’s death. The child was taken from a home on Highway 92, near Spurger to a Beaumont hospital on Friday. The child was transferred Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital and died early Monday morning.

No arrests have been made in the case. Three other children from the home have been placed in protective custody.

Investigators say it appears the child’s death is the result of abuse, but are releasing few details at this time.

Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan says his department can't take action because the department is waiting on autopsy results. Hennigan says the autopsy results could take months because the child is so young that its body has to be sent to a special lab.

Hennigan says the county will seek capital murder charges, but there have not been any suspects named. This is the first time Tyler County has investigated a child abuse case that resulted in a death.

Child Protective Services says that they could receive preliminary autopsy results by the end of the week.

To the mom of the oldest two children: I am so sorry your children had to endure what they did. They have trauma to live with the remainder of their lives. I hope this teaches them what kind of parents not to be. This sickens me to no end. Please call Family Services of Southeast Texas. You can get counseling free of charge for your children if you cannot afford it. The number is 409-833-2668.

Ok well....My thoughts will remain with this tiny angel that has went home. This story breaks my heart, you can not read a newpaper, watch the news or even go in public without seeing or hearing some type of child abuse or neglect. What has this world come to. This makes me hug my kids a little longer when I lay them down in a SAFE bed and home.

being a retired nurse and have nuresed in several different states and have seen child abuse, but this is the worst i have heard off. i have known several couples that have wanted children and couldn't have any and they would have been wonderul parents and there there are others that just keep haveing children and dont deserve them at all. what ever was done to that child shoud be done to the pereson that did that to him.

Every story of an abused child supports my opinion that we ought to offer a class on parenting to kids while they are in school. They grow up not knowing what to do, and they get frustrated, and hurt the baby, when a little education would give them the skills, and knowledge, they need to be good parents.

it could have been prevented had the investagator looked into the case more.i have sufficient proof that my children were being abused by this same woman and nobody would listen. My children are bright, intellegent young ladies and they were ignored and called liars by their own father. They knew they were being treated badly and he did nothing but treat them worse.i will do everything in my power to get my children back and i hope that she goes to jail for a very long time for wut she has done to

I am the mother of the two oldest children taken from this couple. It saddens me that it took the tragic death of this poor innocent child for the state to finally take their children.my children told me last summer when they were visiting me that they were being abused by their step-mom and it was reported to authorities imediately and i was told there was no cause to remove them from their father's home.It sickens me to think that the child that died could have one of my children when it could

What has this world come to? It sickens me every time I turn on the news and hear something about an innocent baby being abused. The responsible person should be beaten to death, just like that poor baby was.
