Thanks also to the animal control people, the other officers who arrived later and EMS responders who were absolutely great to both me and my dog during the whole ordeal.

...I started kicking the pit bulls, trying to save my dog. They took her to the ground so I went down to my knees, eventually pulling them off her. I picked up my pup and climbed a stone wall approx 5' tall and one of the dogs clamped on my calf trying to drag me down. I kicked in the face enough times to get it to let go. I climbed atop the wall holding y dog and the 2 pits spent the nex 5-10 mins jumping and biting at our feet and her tail (at ties successfully) until my cries for help...

To answer "???"'s question, the dogs were not provoked. My dog and I walked up to a building in the center of Tyrell park (75 yards from the playground); we stepped inside, looking for a restroom. I saw the pits and tried to quietly leave. The pits followed us outside and began sniffing my dog (a 9 month old border collie) as she cowered, agging her tail. The pits then attacked her from opposite sides; I yelled at the dogs and tried to pull my dog away by her leash. As the attack becam more visc

I don't know, Man Mauled by Viscious Border Collies seems pretty darn newsworthy to me.

BC Mom, you're an idiot. Do you think all black people are criminals too?? How can you judge a breed on only negative splashy news stories like this? Obviously, you have never met a pit bull up close. They aren't agressive without being taught to be that way any more than ANY other breed. You're a moron and I'm sorry for you that you will never experience the intelligent and loyal breed that pit bulls are.

Man Mauled by Viscious Border Collies. Because its not news worthy. Do some research. They are not the blood thirsty killers you make them out to be. Did you know they were once called Nanny Dogs

Can anyone even ask if the dogs might have been provoked in the first place? And as far as I've experienced - ANY loose dog will run over to another and bark and attempt to attack it. Dogs attack. Period. Human, dog, cat, bird, etc. I understand that while one dog was killed the other was not. And you cannot condemn a specific breed because it's more agressive - my indoor cat is far more agressive than my dog and I dont say that all Calico cats should be killed because mine has an agressive sid

The other pit that was involved in the attack should be killed also!

BC Mom do your research...not all of these dogs are bred for fighting. Do you recall "Petey" from Our Gang? The two dogs were abandoned and left for dead at this park. I know someone whose child was attacked by a Golden Retriever but you aren't going to hear about that because the words "Pit Bull" draws more attention in a news story. I'm not defending these dogs in any way but to attack the whole breed is ludicrous.

YOURWRONG - good name for you. These dogs are bred for fighting, it's in their bloodline. Do your research before you tell someone they have an "uneducated response". It's not all about how an animal is raised, the majority of it depends on the breed and their aggressive nature. Like I said before...do the research. Jeremy, glad to hear you are ok.

Glad you and your pup are o k , you're both very blessed to be alive with 2 attacking. Yes, when you own a known killing breed it bears a heavy responsibility.

Thanx for asking bullet. I had to have 20 stitches, just got of ER. My dog had a few bites and is fine after leavin vet. My leg really freakin' hurts, I'll tell you that. I thought my pup was a "bad dog" when she peed on the rug; my definition of that term is permanently altered. I used to think its all about how an animal is raised, but how come you never here about any breed other than a pit bull mauling anyone? Havent seen any "Man Mauled by Viscious Border Collies.

the breed is not useless the owners are!! owning a bully breed is a big responsibility, but to say the whole breed should die because of ignorant owners is an uneducated response.

OMG I can't believe this...every day this week another Pit Bull attack. Kill them, kill them all! How many more people are going to be injured or killed by this useless breed?
