Elderly Woman's Home a Total Loss in China Fire

David Ingram

An elderly China lady is unharmed after her house went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors on the scene tell KBMT 12 news just before 3 p.m. the lights went out at the woman’s home on West Railroad Avenue in China. She called a friend to come to her house and find why the power went out. When the friend arrived he found smoke coming from the attic and called the fire department.

When firefighters with the China fire department arrived heavy smoke was coming from the house and help from Bevil Oaks and Nome Fire Departments was requested.

The house could not be saved from the fire.

The Red Cross was called to help with temporary assistance for the woman.

No injuries were reported
