Dashcam Video Shows Dramatic Struggle Before Mans Death

News KBMT

A suspect is dead after a routine traffic stop that was caught on the police car's dash camera.

Now a Louisiana sheriff's office says its deputy did everything right.

Video from a Livingston Parish deputy's car shows deputies attempting to arrest 42-year old Donel Stogner.

But it's what happens a few seconds later that launched an investigation.

Stogner placed a bag of drugs in his mouth and attempted to swallow it. The arresting deputy quickly notices and a struggle ensues.

The suspect then began chocking on the bag.

The struggle last five minutes and resulted in Stogner being taken to a hospital where he eventually died.

Investigators found that the arresting deputy's use of force was not in the wrong.

In fact he was trying to prevent the suspect from choking on the bag of drugs.

Why do you say he is from Vidor? There is trash everywhere not just Vidor. The man swallowed the drugs he ran the risk of choking. The cop was trying to prevent the man from swolling the evidence and hurting himself. The man hate to say chose his death not the cops.

It certainly does. Let me guess, Livingston parish must be close to the Tx border for you to say something like that?
