July 2009 marks the seventh anniversary of four year old
Dannariah Finley's brutal murder.
She disappeared from her home in July 2002 and just days later her body was found on Pleasure Island.
KBMT 12 News ABC/NBC Brian Burns tells that investigators are still looking for the person responsible.
Dannarriah Finley was kidnapped from her Orange home, sexually assaulted and brutally murdered seven years ago.
Her kidnapping spawned a nationwide alert that didn't end until her body was found in a little traveled part of Pleasure Island.
Dannarriah's family pastor said he continues to pray for an end to the case.
"We have confidence in the police, that they're doing they're job and that they want to bring the person responsible to justice. I believe that they will solve this case" said Rev. C. W. Crawford of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Reverend Crawford was the family's pastor when Dannarriah was taken.
He said he believes the family is coping with Dannarriah's death but could still benefit from an end to the investigation.
"I believe they have put Dannarriah's death behind them as much as they can but it's in the back of their mind every day. It's something they'll always be dealing with" said Crawford.
Detective Chad Hogan with the Orange county sheriff's office was working at the Port Arthur police department when Dannarriah's body was found.
"Her body was found in a part of Pleasure Island that almost no one goes but whoever dumped her there believed it was remote enough that it would never be found" said Hogan.
This is Reverend Crawford's church, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. It's the church Dannariah and her family attended. And it's the church the reverend worries about every Sunday morning.
"That person could be sitting in my church every weekend. someone we know and someone that could do it again" added Crawford.
"We have a primary suspect but we need the public's help to take the case to a grand jury. Maybe they've been worried about retaliation but solving this crime would bring closure to the family. Some little piece they are missing that would make sure the case is accepted by the DA" added Hogan.
Dannariah Finley would have turned 12 on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.

What does Officer Hogan mean that there is a suspect, but they need the public's help to bring to grand jury?? If there is a suspect and evidence then what is the problem? I have 2 small children and do not want this monster on the streets any longer..

Re: "What does Officer Hogan mean that there is a suspect, but they need the public's help to bring to grand jury??" Just what it says: they have a suspect but not enough evidence to bring charges. They need the public's help to find more evidence in order to bring charges.
