Zero Tolerance Firework Policy Announced in Orange

News KBMT
Bryan Rupp

The drought across Southeast Texas has local officials enforcing a zero tolerance policy when it comes to firework use in some locations.

Inside the city of Orange considers possessing or discharging fireworks is prohibited and police have the authority to seize any fireworks found within the city limits - excluding 'permitted locations.'

Citations issued in relation to the law can have a fine up to $500.

The city of Orange has announced that they will enforce this law more strictly and aggressively than it has in past years.

In addition the police is encouraging citizens to report any firework use during the upcoming holiday.

i think that orange needs to get a grip and chill out. what is the fourth without fireworks? if people with common sense use em with just that-common sense, then what is the problem? you won't and can't start a fire if you have the brains to know how to use fireworks. good ole orange!(not)

I agree with annie, Orange so needs to chill out. the fourth is ruined for me. I plan to move out of orange real soon,if orange had someone that could run the city, besides a funeral director, then maybe the residents of orange could finally have some fun.

If there is a ban then the city should have a big fireworks display for the people!

Hey Annie...Not everyone who plays with fireworks has common sense. So there is a good possibility that there would be a fire started by some idiot this fourth of july due to the drought in southeast texas. No one likes it but you gotta do what you gotta do.
