Tires Risk Blowout During Heat Waves

News KBMT

While the summer heat can take its toll on a persons body, it can also create problems for cars as tires can fail during periods of excessive heat.

The combination of temperatures near 100 degrees and increased friction caused by under-inflated tires or speeding can lead to blowouts.

One local tire dealer said air pressure is a huge issue in hot weather, especially when there are older tires on a vehicle.

summer is new tire season anyway, more folks driving over pot holes, buckled roads, railroads, discarded rig parts[treads] on back roads and interstate. Bored teens and gang members who like to pop tires to get reactions knowing red tape will get them out of jail, if at all due to crowding.
