David Ingram

Beaumont Police say a man and woman trying to swim under the influence of alcohol ended with the woman in the hospital and the man taken to jail.

Around 2 p.m. Thursday officers were called to Collier’s Ferry in Beaumont where a woman had been pulled out of the water. Officer Crystal Holmes with the Beaumont Police Department tells KBMT 12 News witnesses called police to say a man and woman appeared to be under the influence of alcohol while trying to swim. The woman began having problems staying above water and had to be pulled out of the water and given CPR. She was treated at the scene and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The man who was with her has been arrested and charged with public intoxication.
