Beaumont Police Investigate Second Bank Robbery in a Week

David Ingram

Police Officers are looking for a man who robbed the Guaranty Bank at the corner of Interstate 10 and 11th Street in Beaumont around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses say the robber was armed with a handgun.

The robber is described as a dark-skinned white male around 5’7” wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans and a stocking over his head. The robber fled in a white 2004 Ford Econoline panel van with Texas License Plate 01WBB1. The van had a green flag in the back window, possibly a Mexican flag. Witnesses say it was not clear if there was anyone else in the van but it appeared the bandit got into the driver’s side of the van.

Beaumont Police Officer Crystal Holmes tells KBMT 12 news the red dye bag DID deploy so the driver’s side of the van and possibly the bandit could be covered in red dye.

Officer Holmes says police do not believe Thursday’s bank robbery is connected to a bank robbery that occurred in Beaumont Monday. Holmes asks anyone who sees the van to call his or her local law enforcement immediately. Callers could be eligible for a cash reward from the Beaumont crimestoppers.

KBMT will have more on this story later in the evening.
