Huge Show Of Respect For Man Who Honored Fallen Soldiers

David Ingram

The sound from scores of motorcycles echoed through the streets of Port Arthur as a man who volunteered his time honoring fallen soldiers was laid to rest.

Glenn Boudreaux, 61, of Port Neches passed away Friday at his home. His funeral was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Boudreaux was a well-loved member of the Patriot Guard Riders. The group escorts fallen soldiers to their final resting place and shields family members from protest groups during the funeral.

Boudreaux was also a long-time member of the Harley Owners Group, Cowboy Chapter in Beaumont. A huge crowd of fellow Patriot guard Riders and motorcycle riders attended his funeral.

OBITUARY FROM BROUSSARDS FUNERAL HOME

Glenn Patrick “Pat” Boudreaux, 61, of Port Neches, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at his residence in Port Neches.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Reverend T.R. Blanco and Reverend Sinclair Oubre officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.Monday at the mortuary.

Pat was born December 27, 1947 in Port Neches to Joseph and Lelia Boudreaux. He retired from Huntsman Corporation in Port Neches as a Training Coordinator. He was a lifetime member and past director of the Harley Owners Group, Cowboy Chapter, Beaumont, Texas.

Pat is survived by his wife, Kathy Boudreaux of Port Neches; his daughters, Crystal Segura and her husband Kyle of Port Neches, and Desha Jordan and her husband Tommy of Port Neches; his step-daughter, Rochelle Hernandez of Houston; his step-son, Richie Hernandez and his wife Tammy of Silsbee; his sisters, Debi Yu and her husband Frank of Port Arthur, and Lynn Hollier and her husband Kurt of Hillister; his brother, Mike Boudreaux and his wife Karin of Nederland; seven grandchildren, Kyler Segura, Konner Segura, Miranda Girouard, Payton Jordan, T. J. Jordan, Kody Hernandez, Haden Hernandez; and special nieces and nephews.

I have a dream, and in that dream, heaven is preparing for a celebration. In the kitchen, the angels are cooking gumbo and boiling crawfish, because, after all, its heaven. In the living room, the angel band has traded in their golden harps for a fiddle, accordion, guitar, and drums. Pat and God are sitting on the front porch. After lighting up a cigar, Pat tells God about his wonderful life on Earth, and how he loved the feel of the road on those two wheels. But, he says, nothing compared to the love he still feels for his family and friends, and what he hopes, if anything, he helped them to understand what it means to love and take care of each other. As those first notes of a Cajun two-step fill the air, God smiles and says, “I have been waiting for you. Let the party begin.” Written by: Glenn Patrick Briley (Godson of Pat)

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Ps 91:4

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Pat’s memory to the charity of your choice.

Growing up in Port Neches, Pat’s Mom and Dad were my Nanan and Paran (Cajun for Godparents) and Pat was like a big brother, keeping a watchful eye over me and his little brother Mike at school. The Boudreaux’s were "family".
Always happy and smiling, Pat was our role model, the way you wanted to be when you grew up.
A wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor, he will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.

Pat,

Your work has ended, ours has begun. We now have the task of carrying on your legacy of love and caring. Because of you, we have the foundation from which to begin our new lives, as you begin yours in heaven.

There will not be a last time for us; you will remain in our hearts forever.

Love,

Wendy, Beth, Emily, and Glenn Patrick

Just wanted to add a few more thoughts.

From the first time I met Pat and Kathy I was greeted as a "family" member and welcomed into their home.

It was like we had always known each other.

Every trip to Texas was made even more special if I was able to see them during my visit.

I agree with what Shanon said...."Pat....you ride that Harley in heaven and you ride it HARD".

The part of my heart that lives in Texas is a bit broken right now but....

"It is not good-bye" Pat,it's see you later".

Love Again,
Granny

Desha-
I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Your dad was a sweet and kind man that adored you and that was apparent to all that knew him.

I sit here this morning in total numbness. I can not believe that after today I will not be able to see "my brother". But he was much more than a brother to me, as my cousin Brenda said "He was my corner post". I am who I am today because of the influence you made in my life. Never before had I ever been without that shoulder to lean on. Even when you were in Saudi there were countless phone calls & letters. You were always my backup. There was never anything that you wouldn't or couldn't do for me. What do I do now? Thank you for being there for all the times I had to vent about Mike's Mom. I thank our Heavenly Father that she & Dad were on the other side to greet you. It was so much like you to be the one of us to go first. You loved taking the lead. You fought a very hard battle my brother and not once did you lose you hope or your faith in God. You have always lived life to the fullness & you met death the same way. Thank you for our trip to Seattle. I will cherish those miles coming home always, even though we had to stop to look at every trailer lot we passed. I learned alot about you that I didn't know before, like you always ordered your bacon extra crispy, you had to have a whole bowl of lemons in your tea, and if there was any type of law enforcement person eating where we were you always picked up their tab. Enjoy your Glory Bro, you deserve it! Kiss Mom & Dad for me & tell Jesus thank you for sharing you with all of us. Kathy, Crystal, Desha, Mike, Lynn & I will be here for each other, just like you taught us to be.

Uncle Pat....what can I say? You were a kind man with a gentle soul. You will be missed dearly here on this earth. Even though we only met a couple of times I will always call you Uncle. You have left behind a beautiful family who will miss you, cherish you, and live through your kind and gentle soul. Please do not worry about them. The Boudreaux's are a strong bunch and will carry on your legacy. Bless your heart for the struggle you were dealt with. I cannot imagine another human being handling it with the grace that you did. You ride that Harley up in Heaven and you ride it HARD. A day will not go by that I do not think of you and every member of your beloved family. Bless your heart. You will truly be missed. XOXOXOX
