News KBMT

It certainly has been a busy weekend end for Orange County authorities
a man who held Vidor police at bay during a standoff is still on the loose this Sunday, May 17, 2009.

Vidor police called off the stand-off around 10:30p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 after turning up empty handed while searching a wooded area in Rose City for the armed suspect.

The man is still at large.

The situation started Saturday around 5:30p.m. when the man led police on a chase through Rose City. He crashed the vehicle in a neighborhood and then took off on foot.

Later, police got a call from a woman who said a man put a gun to her face demanding that she give him her car.

Because the man broke the steering column he wasn't able to take the car and then fled into the woods on foot.

KBMT 12 News ABC/NBC contacted Vidor police on Sunday and asked if they were going to continue the search. The dispatcher said no they would not, but that they will file a report.
