Deweyville Bank Robbers Cover Tags With Duct Tape

The Newton County Sheriff's Deputies are on the trail of at least two bank robbers as authorities say the Community Bank of Deweyville was robbed just before 2:30p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009.

Deputies are looking for a white GM SUV that was last seen heading east on highway 12. In addition the Texas tags on the vehicle may be covered by duct tape.

The robbers were armed and may have an automatic pistol and a revolver with them.

Both people involved in the robbery were black. The first is 6 feet tall, 250 pounds with a dark complexion, dark t-shirt and curly hair. The second is 5'5", 180 pounds with an average build, brown-green plaid shirt and tan floppy fisherman hat. In addition he may have a tatoo on chest.

There were no injuries during the robbery and those with information are encouraged to contact the Newton county sheriff's office at 379-8555.
