Fire Engines Rushed to False Alarm at Lamar Campus

News KBMT
Bryan Rupp

Three fire engines rushed to Brooks Hall at Lamar University for a possible structure fire on Friday, April 3, 2009. The call came in about 2:30p.m. but turned out to be a false alarm.

Workers were inside when an electrical shortage happened in one of the breaker boxes. It did not set off the fire alarm but workers called the fire department for precautionary measures.

An electrical shortage is said to be the cause and Brooks hall isn't being used at this time.

Brad Pennison from the Beaumont Fire and Rescue says there is some wiring damage that will have to be repaired.
