Deweyville Soldier Laid To Rest

A Southeast Texas soldier who died while stationed at Fort Hood was laid to rest on Sunday, March 29, 2009.

Private Samuel Moody of Deweyville died while serving at Fort Hood in a non-combat related incident.

Private Moody's funeral was held at Calavary Baptist Church in West Orange. Hundreds attended the service along with the Patriot Guard Riders. Moody's family invited the public as he was buried in Deweyville.

A local soldier has returned home one final time. Private Samuel Moody of Deweyville died while serving at Fort Hood in a non-combat related incident.

On Friday, March 28, 2009 folks trailed the hearse of private Moody as his body was transported down Highway 90 in Jefferson County and on to Orange County.

Members of the Beaumont Police Department, escorted the body into the area along with Jefferson, Orange and Newton County sheriff's deputies.
