No Injuries Following Morning Gunplay in Jasper County

77-year-old man arrested after firing shots at grandson

Jasper County Sheriff's Deputies scrambled this morning after a disgruntled elderly person starts firing shots at family members

Shortly after 8 a.m. deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call of shots fired in the 900 block of Martin Luther King Dr. Police say a 77 year old man, identified as Sam Cooper, Jr., fired three shots from a handgun at his grandson.

According to Kirbyville Police Chief Jeff Clopp the gun had been put up before officers arrived and no injuries were reported.

Mr. Cooper was arrested and charged with deadly conduct.

His grandson was charged with family assault
