Groves Mother Expected to Face Manslaughter Charges After Kids Killed in Accident

DPS expects to file charges with DA this week

Charges are pending against a Groves Woman in connection with a weekend accident that killed two of her children.

Siara Romero, 19, lost her 1-year-old son Rodolfo Ramos Romero and 5-year-old daughter Ariadna Zepeda Romero Saturday when her car collided with a Port Arthur garbage truck on Gulfway Drive. KBMT spoke with DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis Monday afternoon. She says the DPS expects to file charges with the District Attorney's Office later this week. Romero, who received non-life threatening injuries, is accused of driving too fast and not properly restraining her children.

If Romero is charged with criminally negligent homicide she faces up to two years in jail.

I hate to see such a young mother having to face the consequences of her poor decision to leave her child(ren) unrestrained and having to bury them. But surely she knew she was breaking the law and should have had them buckled in properly. Then her babies would probably still be alive and she wouldn't be facing charges. Come on parents...buckle 'em up, whether they like it or not it's for their own good!!
