Beaumont Man Seeks Release from Mental Hospital Following 1994 Stabbing Death

January 7 Hearing Set for Millet Harrison

David Ingram

A court date has been set for a Beaumont man who was placed in a state mental facility after he was found not guilty because of insanity in the 1994 death and dismemberment of his mother. The court will decide if Millet Harrison, Jr., 60, is still mentally ill.

Harrison has been in mental hospitals since his 1994 trial in the stabbing death of Louise Harrison, 67, at her home on Magnolia in Beaumont. Hearings have been held every January since then to determine if he should remain in a mental hospital.

Harrison is set for a January 7, 2009 hearing to determine if he should remain locked up or is set free.
