Port Arthur's Club Jaguar Bikini Bar Raided: Updated 6:27pm

Bryan Rupp

Authorities say numerous complaints including one from an irate spouse led to a three agency raid Wednesday Night on a club in Port Arthur.

The Club Jaguar Bikini Bar was shut down for operating without a license and for selling alcohol without a license.

Eight women were cited for stripping and the owner for operating a sexually oriented business.

Port Arthur Police Chief Mark Blanton says he remembers one complaint in particular "one woman called and complained her husband had spent his entire paycheck at the club on Gulfway drive."

Agents from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission cited the club owner and two employees for selling liquor without a license and confiscated more than 15 cases of beer and ten bottles of hard liquor.

"The penalty can be up to six months in jail and fines. We expect to make the recommendations to the district attorney next week" said Sgt. Steven Cagle.

The club has been open for about six weeks and Groves authorities say they received the first complaints about the club which sits on a site across the street from the Groves city limits.

"They were obviously trying to capitalize on all the workers at the plants and the new construction workers in the area who pass by every day. we don't need that kind of business" said Groves Police Chief Jeff Wilmore.

KBMT 12 News met people outside the club who said they were the property owners. They declined to comment on camera but told KBMT the woman who ran the club told them she had all the permits and licenses she needed to open the club.
