Most peoples shopping time is limited and one gift that used to be very popular, the gift card isn't as popular anymore.

This year holds extra concerns for shoppers as some national chains are announcing pending store closures and some are closing for good.

One way to bypass a certain store is to buy a mall gift card that is normally backed by American Express.
