Beaumont Schools Have Seat Belt Equipped Buses to Start Year

Brian Burns

We have one of the first school district in Texas to receive school buses with seat belts.

The Texas legislature approved the measure almost a year ago...

The buses were ordered after the West Brook High School soccer team tragedy two years ago.

Seat belts are required in new school buses bought after 2010 and all school charter buses after 2011.

36 buses with seat belts will be in operation this fall and students at Martin and Blanchette Elementary will be the first to ride with the belts.
