Beaumont Police Nab Dangerous Driver

News KBMT

An off-duty Beaumont police officer says he was nearly hit by an extended-cab pickup truck that was driving erratically Friday morning. When the patrolman tried to stop the driver, the man kept on going. At one point a bicyclist barely escaped the path of the truck.

Police say the man drove at speeds up to 50 mph through several stop signs and at least one traffic signal on 11th street before pulling over.

The driver was given a field sobriety test and taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
