Port Arthur Policeman Injured in Monday Morning Accident

Fire crews cut officer from the wreckage

News KBMT

A Port Arthur police officer is undergoing surgery after he was involved in an accident involving an 18-wheeler.

Around 7:30 a.m. Monday Officer Regan Bray was on his way home from work in his personal vehicle when a truck pulled out of a lay-down yard in the 4200 block of Savannah. The truck driver pulled into the path of Officer Bray’s car. The car struck the truck’s trailer, which was loaded with large concrete pilings. The accident trapped the off-duty cop in his car but he was able to use his portable radio to call for help.

When fire crews arrived on the scene they had to cut Officer Bray from his vehicle. He was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Doctors say his X-Rays showed a fractured right femur.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
