Crocket Street to Shut Down a Number of Venues

News KBMT

Crockett Street Development, the group that developed the dining and entertainment district in downtown Beaumont, says it is positive about the future of Beaumont's downtown despite Sunday's announcement that a number of venues will close temporarily.

The developers and property owners have issued a statement saying they "...wish the former operators well and see this parting as a great opportunity to re-invigorate some of the locations, which have been open since early 2002."

Developers have been in discussion with potential future tenants.

KBMT spoke Sunday with Crockett Street spokesperson Christina Delgadillo who said the businesses closing include Antone's, Dixie Dance Hall, Star Bar and the Black Cat Lounge. All closings are scheduled for Tuesday July 1.

Tenants who lease and operate other Crockett Street venues, such as Rio Rita's, The Neches Room, Hog Wild, Bobbie McGee's and others, will not be affected by the announced closings.

ya know when there is a TABC official involved things are not good! First thing you are supposed to do as a manager is make sure that all your employees are certified (this is not the case at the whiskey river establishment); and it has been said that weapons are carried by personnel that are not legal; not to mention that the under aged teen of the owner/manager is there on a regular basis drinking and living it up while his parents look on - go figure! Jeff has bounced checks everywhere (160K)

You want proof of illegal actions? LOL, I am challenging all law officials to observe for yourself; never would start unecessary rumors I truly thought Whiskey River was a great place to have fun until I learned what was really going on behind those doors. If I was the owner/manager I would be very concerned about their doors closing in the very near future!

Whiskey River is no longer going to be the most popular spot on the market! Why? because the managment just recently resigned employees that they felt were cheating them? lol the joke is on them because the employees that were cheating them are still there! The Owner Jeff owes x amount of dollars in bounced checks and the manager shanna is the one that makes every clubguy's dream come true. I cannot wait to see y'all slammed, just hope you use that pistol wisely! LOL!!!

think it has more to do with coming lawsuit than back taxes.

The Crockett St. places are being shut down because the guy that owns them is being sued by the girl's family who died in that police roadblock collision a few weeks ago. She was allegedly DUI and was wearing a armband from the Crockett St. clubs at the scene of the accident....indicating the possibility that the clubs should have known she was incapacitated and not allowed her to drive a vehicle. It's all about the lawsuit that follows. It's not about the local economy.

Only reason I can think of the owner closing it down is because he does not know how to run a business. Every venue that is closing down always had people in it, even with the economy like it is. Hopefully someone business savvy will take over.

There is alot of illigal actions going on within this link and y'all need to take care of it or someone will!!

maybe use that postal encoding building for West or Sitel calling center and rehire people out of jobs? Maybe patrons have a fund raiser to buy Crockett street so they have more control over its future? Keep owners local.

Yes well they should consider all of the people who are out of a job now with no notice and the fact that they depend on that income to support themselves and their families....
