"Open Air" Drug Deals Lead To Drug Arrest Sweep

Brian Burns

Hardin County authorities sweep down on over two dozen alleged criminals today looking to put a dent in drug trafficking.

Hardin County sheriff's deputies, and Lumberton, Kountze, and Silsbee Police officers took part in the arrests of 26 suspects today.

Authorities say the warrant sweep was designed to take alleged drug dealers "off the streets" and clean up an apartment complex off South 3rd Street in Silsbee especially.

Investigators say the neighborhood along the 7 hundred block of South 3rd had become riddled with drug traffickers.

And residents had complained about so-called "open air" drug transactions there.
